The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center is a showcase for automotive equipment and accessories. It's also a great place to take the pulse of the automotive aftermarket, and to see which cars and SUVs the industry believes will be the next big thing. Parts and accessory manufacturers often bring elaborately customized vehicles as showcases for their products, and there usually winds up being a dominant vehicle in many booths.
A few years ago it was the HUMMER H2; then the Chrysler 300 took over.
There was no dominant vehicle this year, but there was a serious contender -- the 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser. I saw at least 30 customized FJ Cruisers at the show, some mild customs and some over-the-top outrageous custom creations.
Take a look at some of my favorites from the 2006 SEMA Show -- not your everyday FJ, but some real Custom Cruisers.
