The 2008 Toyota Highlander, a crossover (meaning car-based) SUV, is, as they say, new from the ground up. Compared with the existing model it is longer, more spacious, more powerful and loaded with features aimed at the maturing families for whom it was designed. Full-time all-wheel-drive is standard and comes with a stability assist system (only the Goodyear Blimp fleet has more airbags). Four distinct models are offered, allowing a buyer to tailor the Highlander to his or her needs. The DOHC V-6 puts out 270 hp, fuel mileage is approx 18.4/25.6 city/hwy, base price in US starts at $27,300.
