The RAV4's hood is light and well-balanced, though it lacks a spring or gas strut to aid opening. A simple steel bar has to be snapped into place to keep the hood open, and finding the right hole can be tricky. It's a cost-saving measure that many manufacturers have taken, but I wish they would reconsider for safety reasons.
