The 2006 Subaru Forester 2.5 XT carries a $27,895 base price ($29,365 as tested), a 3 year/36,000 mile basic warranty, a 5 year/60,000 mile powertrain warranty and an EPA estimate of 21 mpg city/26 mpg highway. I don't know if it's indestructible, but it sure is competent.
