Every year, the Motor Press Guild organizes a track day for its members. The 2008 event was held at Auto Club Speedway in Ontario, California, after years at Willow Springs International Raceway.
The manufacturers bring out bunches of their new cars, trucks and SUVs, and full journalist members of the MPG are invited to drive them on the track and on the streets. The event is a great opportunity to drive competitive vehicles back-to-back, to explore the range of vehicles available, and to refresh your journalistic memory about what's out there.
Additionally, it's a fantastic networking and social event, a chance to see old friends and make new ones.
I was able to get my hands on a few interesting vehicles, and took them out for drives and brief photo sessions. I'll be reviewing as many of these SUVs as I can this year -- for now, here are some photos.
