The biggest news for the 2008 Nissan Pathfinder is the addition of a 5.6-liter V-8 engine that makes 310 hp and 388 lb-ft of torque for those who need more go juice as well as pulling power (7,000-lb max tow capacity). I had a chance to drive the new Pathfinder both on and off-road, and not only is it quick, but extremely capable in serious off-road trekking. The bigger engine dictated a new hood to accommodate the larger engine, and a freshened appearance both front and rear updates the exterior to match the power under the hood. The new Pathfinder comes in six trim levels, ranging from the entry-priced $25,700 S-V6 to all the way up to the top-end $36,500 LE-V8, and all models can be had in 2WD or 4WD, with the SE Off Road version only as a 4WD model. If you like the look of dark brown leather, opt for the new Russet interior, which bumps up the luxo quotient for those who like to rough it smoothly.
