Happy New Year to everyone out there. Many of us have the day off on January 1. I'm going to suggest that it's a good time to give your SUV, crossover or minivan a little bit of attention.
Even if you live in a cold climate, it's a good idea to keep your SUV clean during the winter months. Go get a car wash, or at least go to a car wash and flush some of the accumulated muck and grime off of your SUV's rocker panels and undercarriage. You'll help prevent corrosion, paint failure and rust.
Check your fluid levels, and if you haven't done it already, switch to a winter mixture for your windshield washer reservoirs. You'll be much happier when it gets really cold if you can spray.
Have you had your oil changed lately? Some mechanics recommend using the lightest viscosity oil allowed by your manufacturer during the winter, when heavier oil mixes may take longer to heat and loosen.
Take care of your SUV, and it will take care of you.
