You can't be all things to all people. Nobody knows that better than a car manufacturer. So you try to be the most things you can be, and let the chips fall where they may. That's what's happening with the new Nissan Pathfinder.
I just drove the new fourth-generation Pathfinder, and it is nothing like the third-generation Pathfinder. No longer is it a body-on-frame, off-road capable SUV; it's now a unibody family hauler. No longer does it sport a boxy, quirky design; it now conforms to convention.
Those are just observations, not criticisms. But, boy is the new Pathfinder not the old Pathfinder.
