GMC SUV Overview

Thursday September 10, 2009

Now that the General is down to four divisions (Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC), I figured it was time to point the spotlight at GMC for a little while. After all, next week, I'll be traveling to Detroit to drive the new Terrain, the new 2010 GMC crossover that will replace the Envoy in the lineup. It's based on the same platform as the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox, and will come stuffed with the new GM direct injection engine. I'm very eager to see how GM will differentiate the Equinox from the Terrain -- will this be more than badge engineering?

GMC is one of the oldest vehicle nameplates, and one of the building blocks of General Motors. It evolved from Reliance Motor Vehicle Company, which GM acquired in 1909. The GMC brand, short for "General Motors Truck Company," first appeared in 1912, and has been in continuous existence ever since. Currently, GMC is the second largest-selling General Motors nameplate, after Chevrolet.

Take a look at this GMC SUV Overview for a journey through the current GMC lineup.
