The future of the SUV?
Thursday November 13, 2008
At a time when most manufacturers are retrenching from SUV production and development, NASA continues to move full speed ahead. Witness this rover concept that they have been testing in the Arizona desert (looks a lot like the moon, doesn't it, conspiracy buffs?). There are several designs in prototype, including one called the "SPR" or "small pressurized rover," which will house astronauts in relative comfort as they scoot along the moon's surface.
Hey, if the HUMMER could make the transition from military vehicle to consumer success, why not the SPR?
