I drove a sedan -- and lived to tell the tale

Tuesday September 9, 2008
Because of an anomaly of scheduling, I wound up driving the new 2009 Lincoln MKS today, and I'll drive it again tomorrow for a few hours.

Putting myself so close to the ground in such a big sedan reminded me why I love SUVs so much. The driving position felt wholly unnatural to me, no matter how much I fiddled with the steering wheel (tilt and telescope adjustable) or the power driver's seat, I just couldn't get comfortable. I felt like I'd not only been transported in a sedan, but back through time into my grandfather's old Ford LTD, with its overstuffed driver's seat and La-Z-Boy driving position.

I'm sure that Aaron Gold, About.com's Guide to Cars, will have his own opinion about the MKS -- as for me, I'll stick with SUVs, thank you very much.
