Everyone has their view of what an iconic SUV looks like. In my mind, it's always a Toyota 4Runner, probably because I've spent so many miles in Moose, my reliable old 1994. For many people, though, the first thing they see in their mind's eye when they hear "SUV" is a Ford Explorer like the one in this 2008 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer 4x4 Photo Gallery that Basem Wasef, About.com's Guide to Motorcycles, put together.

It's little wonder -- Explorer was the US's top-selling SUV from its introduction in 1991 to 2006, when it was overtaken by the Honda CR-V, so there are plenty of them on the road to burn into your retinas. Despite some ups and downs, Explorer soldiers on, and looks great in the Eddie Bauer two-tone trim.
