2007 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Photo Gallery

Monday August 13, 2007
I'm going to miss the Highlander Hybrid when it goes away after this year -- oh, it's not really going away, it's just getting redesigned, but I don't like change much. I guess that's why I'm so attracted to the design trend of Retrofuturism. You know it, even if you don't know it -- Retrofuturism uses design cues from the past in a modern context, cribbing the feeling and the context of older designs while incorporating the latest technology. The most prominent examples lately are the Ford Mustang, the Chrysler PT Cruiser and the Chevrolet HHR. Even Toyota has gotten into the act with the FJ Cruiser, a total retrofuturist manifesto on wheels.

Highlander has never been accused of retrofuturism, but I've always seen hints of the past in the present vehicle. I like the strong lines combined with the modest dimension, and I'm not sure what I think of the 2008 Toyota Highlander yet.
