2007 Chevy Avalanche Photo Gallery

I know that it's not an SUV, but I really fell hard for the 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche. I reviewed it for About Trucks. I pushed hard to get this vehicle classified as an SUV, but it doesn't quite meet the criteria, because it has a short pickup bed, and that makes it a truck by our very narrow definition. But really, this is a vehicle that defies easy description or classification.

The new Avalanche rides on the new GMT900 platform, which you've heard me extoll over and over on these pages. It underlies the new Cadillac Escalade, Chevy Suburban, GMC Yukon Denali, and a bunch of other vehicles.

If you're thinking about an SUV, but you sometimes need the utility of a pickup, you don't really have to leave the SUV fold. You can pick up an Avalanche, and call it whatever you want. I will call it an SUV, at least in my heart.
