2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara 4WD Test Drive & Review

It's odd when a company is so great in one field, and so awful in another. How do the two entities exist under one banner?

When I recently drove the 2006 Suzuki Verona, I was astonished at how bad the sedan was. I was forced to say "With so many better midsize front-wheel drive sedans out there for the money, I can't see why anyone would buy a Verona." Ouch.

Now comes the 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara 4WD, and I have to draw an entirely different conclusion -- this SUV is really superb. If you're looking for a RAV4/CR-V alternative, this is it. It's the Suzuki SUV that I expected out of the company that builds Suzuki motorcycles -- a solid, stylish alternative with a lot of value for the dollar.
