2007 Cadillac Escalade Test Drive
Thursday May 18, 2006
If I had to crown the King of SUVs, the Cadillac Escalade would be a contender for the throne. The 2007 Cadillac Escalade benefits from GM's substantial investment in their large SUV platform, which they identify by the code name "GMT900." Chevy's Tahoe and GMC's Yukon and Yukon Denali ride on the same platform, but Escalade trumps them with luxury appointments (and a higher price). I got a chance to drive the 2007 Cadillac Escalade AWD in San Diego, California, and to grill the engineers and marketeers from GM about their new baby.Anybody who thinks that engineers aren't passionate about their work hasn't spent time with a bunch of automotive engineers introducing their new product -- these guys are pumped up about the platform, and they're proud of their work. I was impressed with them, maybe even more impressed than I was with the SUV.
